Respone to Joe Lewis' Blog

I use my Iphone so much during the day and it has never crossed my mind that it could be harming me. It is either in my pocket or in my hand. I also use it to wake up by and even us it for music while at the gym.

I agree that new studies should be performed considering how much cell phones have changed since 1999, they are way more powerful now and Americans use them much more frequently. They should also do additional studies to see if cell phone use effects teenagers differently because it seems like teenagers are on there cell phones 24/7

I like how you called out the media for reporting that cell phones cause all those problems with out any scientific reports to back up their claims.

Nice post, Good job.

Unit Two Post

In this article, General David Petraeus is taking command of U.S and NATO forces in Afghan. This is a man who is credited for turning the war around in Iraq so he could be just what is needed to turn things around in Afghanistan. Gen. Petraeus states in the article that the troops "are here to safe guard the Afghan people, and that we are in this to win." A turn around in Afghanistan is very much needed in this war.

The article states that June was the most deadly month since the war began and that progress is slow. The support for the war is low and what actually would count as a victory is somewhat confusing. Petraeus ideas are geared toward helping the Afghan people are target the al-Queda.

He explains all the progress that has been made in that Afghan children are improving by more receiving education and immunization. He explains that new roads are being built and the afghan economy is improving.

Petraeus offers hope to all the people with family and loved ones in Afghanistan. This subject hits me hard because my older brother is currently deployed to Afghanistan and my fiancee is scheduled to deploy late September.

I believe that General Petraeus will effect change in Afghanistan and help bring the troops to their goals. This war is messy and long, it is getting harder to see the light at the end of tunnel, but his strategies were helpful in Iraq so hopefully they will help in this battle theater.

Journalism in relation to war is very important. To many Americans, the wars overseas are pushed out of their mind with the busyness of day to day life. When they see articles and news updates about the war, they are forced to see what many American soldiers are doing everyday to support freedom at home.
